    GlassBuild America 2022: A Look Back

    For many exhibitors and visitors of GlassBuild America in Las Vegas, this year’s trade show was a return to normalcy. Foot traffic was up, and deals and connections were made throughout the three-day event that packed the sizeable Las Vegas Convention Center.

    As ICD High Performance Coatings + Chemistries’ owner and CEO Kris Vockler put it, the show felt like one of the most attended and busiest in years.

    “It had a bit of a glasstec feel where people are stacked up to talk to you,” she says. “It was really good.”

    • When it comes to the production of glass carriers, F. Barkow president John Weise says that the ongoing material shortages have little effect on his ability to get aluminum. Weise says that aluminum prices have started to moderate some. Stainless steel, however, is not easy to obtain. “Some of our customers still want it,” says Weise. “We will tell them upfront that you’re not going to like the price. Don’t shoot the messenger.”

    • For many exhibitors, GlassBuild was the perfect time to show new products. M3 Glass Technologies took the opportunity to showcase its new backpainted glass and printed products. Erika Kelley, a product line manager at M3, says the company aimed to offer more custom decorative interior glasswork. “Right now, M3 is making a transition into decorative backpainted glass,” she says. “One of the things that we are focusing on now is our backpainted glass and printing. We want to be able to do a lot more custom decorative interior glasswork.”

Frank Zhu, a director at Xinglass America, says that he was pleased to find that a lot of people were interested in the company’s glass tempering furnaces.
